I've had this thought for a long time. Would anyone be interested in reading a light novel that was not created by a japanese person? I like the idea that the light novel genre could spread in popularity outside japan, like visual novels have started to do. There's plenty of visual novel creators' circles outside japan these days, which makes me think the same could happen for light novels in the near future.

I'm just interested to see how big the audience for light novels is outside japan. I am an American, but I think I could write a good light novel. I just dont know who would read it since most people seem to only be interested in japanese light novels. Thoughts?

I'm sure you could write a great light novel, but outside of anime fan communities I have the impression that it would probably be labelled a YA novel with traces of anime influence. Not that this'd affect content or reach tho.
