Sure, as a big fan of the Hakuouki series I have bought both Edo Blossoms and Kyoto Winds on Steam. As I didn't like even the translation of the original Hakuouki, I decided right away that I will play the Japanese version. Since the Visual Novel Reader couldn't hook the text, I used Hook Any Text+Translation Aggregator and it worked perfectly. I put my playthrough on hold for now since I'm playing something else, but I'm looking forward to the new routes which have been added to the game, as well as some new scenes added to the old routes.

Exactly, you can play it in that way too. But, even the Visual Novel Reader English Translation is don't perfect... So... I don't really know how bad is really the english translation in the game, but Visual Novel Reader is too much literal. So, even if I don't played the newest versions either because I'm very busy, I will play the original translation with the game.
Thanks for sharing your oppinion. :)

You are welcome, it's a pleasure to meet another Hakuouki fan. :) Of course, automatic translation is terrible, I realize it even better now that I've learnt Japanese a little. When I'm playing with VNR, I mostly use MeCab to look up translation of some words I don't know yet. I look at the machine translation only as a last resort and sometimes it helps to comprehend the meaning of a sentence. If you aren't used to translating from Japanese and don't know Japanese grammar, I think it's better to stick to the official English translation even if it's not that good, because it will still be better than machine translation or your own translation if you try it (I know from my own experience).
