Sorry, I have to use English because we understand our language too deeply. So writing in Vietnamese may be offensive and agressive if we don't use our slangs correctly.
So far, I only read VNs containing 1 of 2 things: full harem ending or just a single heroine. I'm originally an RPG Lover so I focus more on gameplay and less endings. And normal VNs rarely contain these things. Man ..., It's like a pain in the a** to me. Why don't we GET 'EM ALL in just one go. That's what I think. But that's not the main point of my post.

One problem is ... ? Well, I don't get it. Why some guys LOVE VNs having many heroine's routes but HATE harem ending ?
Because harem-ending VNs are bad-written ? True. Some. Then are all non-harem-ending VNs are well-written ? SHIT. NO.
Let's face it, here's the situation (You're reading a VN): "Oh, Kana is so cute and kind-hearted, I'll go her route FIRST ... (after some hours) ... She's so great ! Ah, I see ... Sakura is a sharp one. I LIKE strong smart girl ... (You spent hours ENJOYING her route). Hm ... Aiko seems somewhat reserved, I wonder if there is a reason behind this ... (after some hours) ...
Hm ... No matter what I do, I can't get a HAPPY ending in her route .... I NEED a guide ... (searching in Google). "
Man, What DIFFERENCE does it make ?

CUT THE CRAP ! WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY ?
  1. If you see someone who likes harem, Don't CRITICIZE them.
  2. If you like harem, don't fantasize yourself about it. It's not a real thing, It never be a REAL thing.
Peace.

I feel like there is a story behind that opening statement but I don't think I would want to know. While I should want to give you the benefit of the doubt that maybe, indeed, this write up is to avoid unnecessary arguments but your wording in English is plenty aggressive enough.

I don't usually associate gameplay with visual novels. I think I can recall a few that requires more input than moving your mouse over the various (usually binary) choices that are presented but even in those cases I wouldn't say that their "gameplay", if you could even call it that, is anything stellar. I think what you're looking for is maybe just more of jrpgs in general. That is, if you want more gameplay. If you are into making or being a part of a story maybe even story generators, the likes of rimworld or cataclysm dark days ahead if you are into grimdark fantasy.

To address the main point, people, and I don't mind telling you this with confidence, just don't give much thought into what your preference is or isn't. Only those who feel strongly about one subject would want to raise their voice and, as such, the majority of people have already been and continuously will be following what you suggested.

Ah, sorry for my strong language :-|
Maybe in VietNam, people don't really mind that, but in Western countries (especially in USA), where feminist campaigns are expanding like crazy, people don't think like that.
(Hey, frankly, this is a complicated matter, but feminism is not gender equality, I'm not against feminism, but some extremists are just ...)
For example: link
See, the majority of people don't vote for "Neutral".
Aha, maybe I start this discussion at a wrong place :-|
Although, I don't like route-based VN, I still enjoy kinetic one. It's just like anime. And I love anime (h)

Eh, it's true that I like some harem VNs, but frankly most harem MCs in non-hentai anime are just ... you know ... dense, naive, ... Maybe this is the main reason for hating this genre of those harem-haters .

Ah, I forgot about my reason for not reading VNs with many endings. I was quite sleepy that time
It's because I think you can't truly enjoy a VN if you look up at a guide. Why ? Because a guide contains a lot of spoilers. And trust me, spoiler tag is an useless tag. If you see a spoiler, will you click it ? Most of the time, certainly.
Then, what about the surprises, the moving moments, ... ? It's not a surprise anymore. Then what you get is just some expressionless texts.
And IMO, I hate to say this, but somehow, I feel like you guys reading these VNs is just because of an ... "Achievement Obsession". (or should I say a completionist)
