Diabolik Lovers episode 1 – Fedora-wearing rapists are so sexy

The plot involves a teenage girl JUST LIKE YOU, YOU’RE A TEENAGE GIRL OH EM GEE THAT COULD BE ME VISITING THIS MANSION AND GETTING RAPED BY MEN WEARING FEDORAS KYAA moving to a fancy old mansion on behest of her father. There she meets a bunch of guys who, despite being rich enough to own a mansion, are not able to afford shirts with more than one button around the navel. Originally she’s worried about their predicament and how their inability to button their shirts could be why they have no body heat. However it turns out they have no body heat because they are all dead inside.
They follow the standard sexual predator kidnapper routine by cutting off all her communication to the outside world, threatening her with violence if she doesn’t comply, and then gangbang her at the end of the episode. We’ve got a while to wait before the next episode, but I assume what happens is she isn’t seen for the next 14 years until her skeleton is found in a basement and racists see the TV news report and blame it on foreigners. But not me, no! When I watch these news reports about girls being taken hostage and being used as sexual slaves, I’m too busy furiously masturbating!
Look, I know a lot of otome games are like this. And hey, I have a masochistic streak too (I did watch Diabolik Lovers after all doh ho ho). But sometimes it’s worth calling this stuff out for how truly fucked up it really is. I’ve probably set off a bajillion trigger warnings writing this post and I feel kinda gross even writing it. But this is literally what the show is about. It’s about a girl being locked in a house and sexually assaulted by a bunch of guys, created for the purpose of girls getting off to it.
