I discovered the VN genre only in 2015 after watching a Corpse Party BloodCovered letsplay which motivated me to play this game and all its sequels. I don't know whether you can call BloodCovered a visual novel (although it is on vndb), but Book of Shadows and Hysteric Birthday 2U are visual novels for sure. I've been mostly playing visual novels ever since and it's my main hobby now.
