It would be nice to see a rhythm game incorporated into the game, so you would have to clear a level of the game before the plot would progress.

...I want to see more dominant heroine especially in relationship... those that knows what she wants and such... not pimp as most otome game heroines are. they just lying down on bed and let the guy do as they want... ugh especially in +18 games...

I keep dreaming about an intelligent and non-naive heroine. I wonder if I will see one somewhere someday.

MidoriAmatoya Just because you have never seen them does not mean they don't exist. There ARE, in fact, heroines who are intelligent and non-naive. Mostly heroines created by Fujifumi, in games like Shinigami to Shoujo, Taishou Alice and Sweet Clown.

Of course, I've never said that such heroines don't exist, just that I've never met them. I've actually played Shinigami to Shoujo and my opinion on the heroine is ambiguous. In the first place it's hard to judge her naivety and intelligence since her true thoughts are often concealed from the reader (probably to not spoil the mystery) to be revealed later on special occasions. So, while she made an impression of a shrewd person sometimes, there were also many cases when she appeared thick-headed, whether it was because she really didn't perceive something or pretended that she didn't. That's why I find it difficult to form a final opinion on her.
I will check out the other two games you mentioned, thank you for your opinion.

MidoriAmatoya: I'm sorry if I misunderstood something, but I was reading your other posts in this box and the way you were putting things make it seems like it's impossible for otome game to have non-naive heroines. And to be honest I'm quite bothered by that mindset many people have, since recent otome games have seen quite an improvement in their heroines' characterization. Otome game heroines now have a wider range of personalities than ever before. People saying the traits they're looking for isn't at all available is rather biased; so I'd like to straighten things up a little bit. You might not think that way, but complaints as such can put off other people who are less knowledgeable about otome games and lead them to have biased opinions about otome games overall.

Regarding Sayo, she might not be shrewd, and from times to times isn't very perceptive of others' intention, since she is after all, a sheltered lady. Not to mention she has a tendency to put too much faith in certain individuals. But she is arrogant, good at hiding her real thoughts (to the point even the players can be confused about her intentions), and has a cynical view of the world. For me that pretty much qualifies as "non-naive".

And if I may add, now that I recall, QuinRose's games also have a wide range of smart and cynical heroines - though again they can be a little thick-headed during certain situations. I don't consider that as a weakness though, rather the fact that there can be situations those heroines can't figure out just makes them much more human.

__Aoki__ Don't worry about it, I understood yesterday what made you think so, it was my post "A game with professional voice acting, beautiful art, likable love interests, unordinary and smart plot, excellent music and intelligent, non-naive heroine. The last one maybe a bit unrealistic though..." in the topic "What is your ideal otome game?". I'm sorry, it was just irony caused by the recent bitter thoughts during my playthrough of the game "Ijiwaru MyMaster". At one point, after the heroine went on a very dangerous and unnecessary trip to buy flour at a market of the demon world alone, not quite knowing the road, dressed in an outfit with exposed chest and legs, and in the end not even remembering that she doesn't have any money on her or even that she can't determine the worth of the demon world's currency, I almost had a mental breakdown and really wanted to shoot her in order to release her from the further suffering caused by her stupidity when she caught a cold on the way back. I really wouldn't want my words to make someone misunderstand the otome genre, so I deleted the last sentence from that post.
To be honest, I'm inclined to agree with you about Sayo. During my playthrough I actually enjoyed how well-read and intelligent she is, and she also had many great moments when she solved a number of mysteries. She was one of few heroines I actually respected. It's just that it's been quite a while since I played Shinigami to Shoujo and the recent selection of my games wasn't that lucky in regards of my favourite type of heroines, so I am a bit frustrated.

I think the idea of changing the heroine's personality based on a test is fantastic :D
Personally I'm fine with any type of heroine, even the meek or soft ones, as long as she doesn't do anything retarded and get herself into troubles that can be avoided with a little thinking. Maybe no overly self-centered heroine too since I find them even worse than the goody-two-shoes people usually hate on. A backstory or setting that explains why the heroine's personality turns out that way would also be nice since I love well-developed and relatable heroine more than anything.

As for what I want from an otome game, it changes based on the genre.
If the game is a lightheart romance, then yes, sugary romance is a must. The romance must be well-written, with enough chemistry and development to make me feel like the hero and the heroine belongs to each other. I also prefer comedic relief scenes in my games since it will feel less tiring going through the story.
If it's a serious game, I would like the plot to be developed properly and intriguing to keep me glued to my chair. A few dark elements would also be nice, as long as they don't ruin the character for me. Romance can be secondary in this type of game.
totally agree!! :188:
I'm also new here, but I've been playing otome like 5-6 years and I do like variety of heroines. It would be better to make the story available in many endings depending on the heroine's character we chose.

Btw, for the thread maker, I'll be waiting for your game announcement!! :79:
