Plot wise, there are a ton of deep VNs and shallow books/novels.
Hmm, that's actually an interesting thought. Do you mind sharing VNs that you consider as deep?

I have been gathering them in my wishlist for a few months, but somehow I couldn't find as many VNs as I'd like to. The reason is that I often finish 1 good VN within 5-7 days. The more engaging the VN, the faster I get every ending.

Preliminary research gave me ~30 titles, but I doubt I'll finish all games in famous series, leaving me with only half.
My current list

I could say I finish intriguing books as fast, unless they are very dark and gruesome like Gillian Flynn's and Stephen King's novels. However, unlike with VNs I have no trouble finding good books to read. It's just a matter of emotional havoc after closing the last page.

Well your list's pretty full already so I'd just add a few more :deptrai:
They are my favourite of course, but some of them are quite controversial. Some give them a perfect 10/10, others hate them with a burning passion, so here you go

1) G senjou maou : thriller, mafia and genius trying to outwit one another. I don't like the main heroine much, and MC isn't my type either but nonetheless, the plot twists are extraordinary.
Also there isn't much lame jokes, characters are introduced fast and the plot sets its points up really quickly. This is a huge plus point for me since I'm bored quickly.

2) Sharin no kuni: same as G senjou for the thriller and plot twists as they're written by the same author. However, this one focus more on the mind of each characters: their motives, pain and resolutions. I absolutely adore MC for his quirks and talents. Still hate the main heroine though.
This one goes at a much slower pace than G senjou with lots of SOL moment so sometimes it gets quite dull. But I love Morita so it's all forgiven :208:

3) Saya no uta: The setting's very disturbing. But it's a love story nonetheless. The purest love story in the world.

4) Cross Channel: 7 or 8 people are trapped inside a lonely world. A story about bond and connection between people seen through the eyes of a monster. If somehow, you could sympathise with him, then it's very heart wrenching.
WARNING: It's very boring at first, but please don't drop until you finish week 4. After that, if you're still not sold, then you're free to delete it.
Or just tell me I will spoil the whole ending to whoever dare to drop it

5) Planetarian: Beautiful. Just beautiful. The never ending glittering of starlight among a war torn wolrd. 3 or 4 or 5 hours of pure amazing experience. The shortest of this list.

The best part of this list is

they all have short to medium length :)))))))))) so go on and complete them first :))))))))

Mind you : Clannad, Rewrite, Umineko, Muv luv are super longgggggggg. Make sure to set aside like 90+ hour for each game :192:
And Rewrite never has enough CGs. Damn you Key. I need more of Kotori :101:

Nowadays parts of the games mess up the way for VN, but as a whole the games are much more interactive than other VNs novels, to the point where I'd say they're VN-puzzle hybrids as opposed to "true" visual novels.
