I would like to hear what you guys think about this. Personally, I find reading visual novels more interesting, educational and beneficial than reading a normal novel because, visual novels are more engaging. They let you take options and give you ability to change the flow of the story. Sometimes, the options let you think deeply and consider what you would do in a particular situation and you can see the consequences of what you had done. Lastly, in visual novels you can see the story from more than one point of view. You can have more than one ending while with books you would never know what would happen if the heroine acted in a different way.

Story aspect aside, reading VN for h-scenes because many of them have so damn good h-scenes, like grisaia series. I can't believe i used to like JAV, lol.

Personally, I find visual novels much more enjoyable since they are voiced, have pictures and, what's more important, your ability to make choices makes you an active participant of a story's creation. On the downside, reading the same amount requires much more time (if you listen to voices to the end) and you have to have an electronic device for reading. Also, creating a visual novel requires much, much more resources than just one author and publisher, so many great stories would have been left untold if they had to be only visual novels.

Not all Vn give you options or alternative route. Chusingura 46+1 is a long 50+ hours Vn with only 1 meaningless choice.
And there are also a lot of great kinetic Vn.

One thing that Vn have over books (and comics) is sound. Voices and music can add a lot.
Also, VN tend to be longer (At least it takes more time to finished one). I can read an average book (300-400p) in a couple of days, but it will take me half a week to a week to finished a Vn (Triple this time if it's in Japanese)

I can appreciate stunning CGs, backgrounds and sprites in Ephemeral and Ikemen Revolution. I love to listen to Junichi Suwabe's seductive voice. But those are about all the bonuses from Visual Novels that I can't find in my favourite novels.

However, many books I love have much more engrossing plots and diverse originality than VNs. I often read only either classic literature or (trashy) Chinese web novels. Both are sources of unimaginable stories and characters, not to mention styles.

Therefore, books have more often entertained and captivated me than VNs could. My list of perfectly satisfying books is way too long, while I could barely name Ace Attorney 3 and Cupid as the fully satisfying VN. I may like a lot of VNs, but most of them have a mixture of subpar and quality routes.

Books will always be deeper in story and detail but I enjoy visual novels more since I remember visuals and sound over words and imagined things.

I agreed. Mainly for H-scenes and the chooses are the best of Visual Novel. A trouble on light novels are the language, on visual novels we have Atlas at least.

Plot wise, there are a ton of deep VNs and shallow books/novels.
However, I find it much easier to finish a book. Reading VN is VERY tiring for me.
And also a lot of VN require 10-30-50 hours to finish, which means I can't finish it in one go. Since it's so tiring for my eyes, I'm just not in the mood for the next day, and the next, the next....
Damn, now I realize that VN is the exact representation for my work. Except it's optional...
