Well, it's on Vndb. So i guess that we can call it a Vn
Yep, I know it is on VNDB, I just thought that it might have been put there a bit forced because several subsequent Corpse Party games are pure visual novels. Since I'm a novice in a VN genre, I thought maybe someone here who has bigger experience could classify this game.

Well, in my opinion it's a Vn. There are some Cg, music (and choices).
There are a lot of gameplay element, but so does thing like kamidori no alchemy meister.

But it's hard to define what's a vn and what's not.

Ah, I read a discussion on VNDB on the topic whether CP BloodCovered is a VN or not and one user there gave the link to FAQ where it's explained that BloodCovered, although included in the database, is a "very much borderline case which shouldn't, ever, be referred to when arguing for another game to be included" and that it has "narration and event CGs, which qualify it over the lack of ADV/NVL presentation". I also read other discussions on the internet and most people don't consider BloodCovered to be a visual novel, only admit that there are some VN elements.

I've been wondering if there are any good visual novels with archaic setting, preferably Japanese olden times. Most of the VNs I know are set in futuristic, modern era or alternate history of the Western world.

Otoge, on the other hand, adores Japanese past eras like Sengoku, Bakumatsu, Taisho, or even Meiji, etc. As there have been many famous JP historical Otoge, I become curious about the existence of good JP historical VNs.

Anyone knows such VNs? Please recommend. Thanks in advance!

My first visual novel was school days, i played because i wanted a different ending of anime. I don't even knew what was a visual novel. I liked so much that i played others like Yosuga no Sora, i thought that all VN were dynamic like anime. I disappointed a bit when i discovered that almost all are static but i got used to it.

Only for ressurrect this post. What you seek on a Visual Novel? (plot,H-scenes,etc.)
For me VN is a chance of make a anime follow the path that i wanna. I saw a lot of animes, some them make me furious because the couple that i supported don't stay together. Not only this reason but is the main reason

Ah thanks for giving it a try. Hope we could make this thread thrive again as I have many unpopular thoughts about VNs that I can't quite discuss with anyone

For me, I play VNs for unique writing styles. One example would be a more dialogue-focused kind. Top-rated VNs often succeed at characterisation beyond most novels, as the later craft often doesn't quite focus as much on polishing dialogues, due to traditional dependence on descriptive narration. Drama may be the closest alternative, but reading them require much more imaginative power than VNs, so VNs definitely serve as a bridge between my intellectual and recreational interests. Ace Attorney 1-4 would be good examples of witty characterization.

Of course, there are many other innovative aspects to VNs as well such as the art of story telling (e.g. Tell a Demon, Doki Doki Literature Club, Cupid's, Steins Gate), which is often coupled with unique plot and twists. I would say they have earned much of my appreciation during the gaming experience, but left little impact soon after. Moreover, the problem with sole dependence on good plot twist is little replay value, which correspondingly became the pitfalls of many good VNs since replay is often unavoidable (albeit save, load, skip jump functions) to achieve their multiple endings.

Sometimes, I play H games as well, which I prefer to be fluffier and less intricate. In those games, I seek for beautiful arts with the right proportion of all sprites, but these games tend to exaggerate certain body parts until they are too unpleasant or downright creepy to look at. Thus, I could rarely enjoy any H-games except for Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome, since most other Eroge look pretty ugly (lol).

I have done Fate, Phenomeno and Dies Irae. I really want to get all the other Visual Novels by Light.
