How do you prefer your otome: VN style or with gameplay?

Cinders has lots of choices, sometimes even more often than once per 10 minutes, but I enjoyed it a lot, especially because consequences of those choices were really significant. I wish there were more games like this.
That sounds really awesome for me too <3. Thanks for mentioning it :). I'll check out Cinders

You're welcome. :) I like immersive games too. Games like Cinders give you an opportunity to feel as if you are a main heroine and live through events of a game. Unfortunately, in the most cases, when I'm playing an otome game, I feel that a main heroine is one of ingame's characters who don't have any relation to me. I even end up feeling jealous of her if I like a guy she is currently romancing. xD

Omg I definitely can relate O(≧▽≦)O

Probably that's why I often like Indie Otome games as they are more generous with choices

To be honest VN tends to satisfy me more than gameplay does. Gameplay style varies, and in some cases, it may actually be really difficult and gets on my nerves a lot -__-
But if the style is easy to play, then I guess I can stand it :54:

That's probably because my interest in the visual novel genre is caused by the same reason as yours. I loved reading books since childhood, but got bored with them in recent years. When I discovered the visual novel genre, I was excited about an opportunity to become an active participant of a story who can change the course of events and the ending. That's why I feel disappointment when I encounter a visual novel where my choices don't change anything important.

Indeed we share the same interests :D
I feel disappointed too whenever my choice didn't matter to the storyline, which is 99% of the case with Voltage games :(

However, it's still tolerable as long as MC doesn't do the exact opposite of my choice. Many times my phone and PC were at risk because of that.

Depends on my mood, sometimes I like to have a little minigames or like RPG style. But, too much isn't good for me. For example like Dandelion Wishes Brought to You by Cheritz or Always Remember Me, for me, it's a bit tiring to schedule what you want to do and rarely get the story texts on going...

When I'm reading a visual novel, I much prefer to focus on the story so mini-games become kind of a nuisance. That being said, Hana Awase's gameplay is actually a bit enjoyable, so it's not like I will quit a game just because of this.

I played 'management' which is a BL game. Its mini-game is so crazy that when the player has to take the exam, it's YOU that do the exam. You have to answer the questions which is very annoying. I mean, I just want to read a novel or want to hear the voice of character I like, but not taking the exam.

I like mine with just VN style. I tend to just concentrate on the story and with a mini game play gets me distracted
